What jewels do you have tucked away?

On Miss Snarks First Victim she asks the question, What is your "sekrit project"? I was thinking about this today too. I have some picture books tucked away in my files that I think are really good. I would love to see them published one day soon. I too have a rhyming picture book that I need to work on a little more. I would think it would be in some children's bookcases someday soon. I have looked at picture books in the library and at book stores. There are some very good picture books and some very bad picture books too.

What do you have that you would love to see published one day but you have put it away to work on some other things?

What jewels do you have hiding in your file cabinet or stuffed in a drawer? It might be time to take them out and give 'em the once over. You never know what could happen. :)

  1. Oh gosh....I have files of stories tucked away. A few universes hidden actually. Mostly science-fantasy, but some pure fantasy novels too. Things I've started and never finished, or finished and never edited.

  2. Liana: Why don't you pull some of them out? I think you might find a diamond in there. :)

  6. I have two short stories that I think very highly of. And, some teachers have thought highly of them too. But, I've always been too scared to submit them because I've had enough friends say that they're too literary or dry. But, I love them and I want to find a home for them someday. Just takes some courage!

  7. Courage! Right. I know you'll find a place for them Davin. I have some stuff that I want to fix up. Because I know the stories deserve to be told. :)

  8. I have lots of short stories that I love, but I doubt they'll ever get published. As Davin says, it's scary to submit them.

  9. BJ: It's scary, yes. But he also talked about courage. You have it, I know. :)

  10. Well, my project is more a service than a writing piece. Are you listening? Shhh....*It's journaling workshops.* I've already started contacting agencies and hope that I can land a workshop soon.

  11. I have a few from when I was in high school and college that have a decent premise. However, I just need to focus on the current WiP now :) That being said, I have been thinking about slightly polishing and blogging some of my more favorite pieces :)

  12. The journaling workshops sound great. I'll be pulling for you.

Lauren: I have been thinking about polishing some of my stuff too. I guess I'm wondering when I will have the time. :)

  13. I actually don't have much tucked away. My first "adult" fiction never got finished and I'm pretty positive it'll never be pubbed. No short stories either. Hmmm. LOts of diary entries though, with lots of angst. LOL

  14. Jessica: Hey! *she gets a thought* Turn the diary entries into a novel for women that can identify. WOOHOO!
