Why did you start blogging?

I'm at the hospital with my boy today. I will comment on your blogs tomorrow.

I was thinking about this question the other day. For me, I started blogging to meet writers. To be able to learn the craft from those who went before and from those walking by my side. And I have learned so much. It feels like my brain might explode from all the things I have learned. And I learned it from all of you!

This is a BIG THANK YOU to all of my bloggy buds. For answering all of my questions. For giving me advice and to Davin, Scott, and Glam for putting my query on your blog and advising me with that.

Thank you for thinking and praying for my son and even my horse. I wouldn't want to be without any of you.

I love you all! *hugs* all around.

Why did you start blogging? Has it lived up to all you thought it would be? Thanks for reading. :)

  1. I started for a different reason than I continue.

I started because I once heard an editor say she ALWAYS googled new potential authors and hoped to find an online presence for them

I continue because I have met amazing people and learn something or laugh some every day.

  2. I love blogging. I didn't start for the wonderful connections but I find that's the best part of it!

  3. I started blogging because I love to write and take photos, thought blogging might be a good way to do these and perhaps even share them with friends like you.. :)

  4. Well, since I have two blogs . . .

The first one is where I rant, rave, scream, stomp my feet, and all that other jazz against the injustice and idiocy that runs rampant in today's society! Whew!

The second one, my writing blog, was initially just a way to keep track of my writing progress. That blog somehow changed into something entirely different . . . and I like the difference. The blog is also away to connect with other aspiring writers.

I've met - in cyberland, of course - some really great people through blogging. I also follow some of my blogging buddies on Facebook. It's just a nice way to hang out people who are going through what I'm going through.

You know my thoughts are with you while at the hospital, and always!

  5. I, too, started blogging to meet people. Through blogging, I discovered that there were two other writers in my tiny little town, and through blogging I met all you other great writers. Good luck with your son and I hope he's ok.

  6. Robyn, Good luck with everything! My reasoning is very similar to Tess's. I was curious to see how hard it was to get my name out to strangers. But, now so many of the strangers are friends that I can't stop blogging.

  8. Hi Robyn!

I sarted blogging as a way to meet & commiserate with/be inspired by other aspiring children's writers and stay connected to the children's writing community. I'm so glad I did because, as a basically shy person, it's allowed me to come out of my shell a bit and find some great blogging friends (including you) who I hope to one day meet in person! I've also learned a great deal more on the craft of writing as well as the likes/dislikes of certain agents.

I will keep you & your son in my prayers!

  9. I truly hope your son is okay. I recently had a trip to the ER with my youngest son, and I can't imagine having to go there fairly often. Both you and your son are in my thoughts.

I started blogging because my head felt like it was crammed too full of stuff on craft and books, and I needed to write it down or else I'd go crazy. I chose to do it in a blog, since that would force me to figure out whether I really understood an aspect of writing (it's one thing to tell something to yourself, and another to explain it to others in a coherent manner). I still do this, but it's morphed into connecting with other writers and readers, which I absolutely love. :)

    Hope the day went well!

  10. I started blogging to get myself writing. I've done that and the lovely people I've met have been an enormous bonus.
Prayers and hugs to you across the miles!
