Huge Amazon Controversy--Go Weigh In!

I KNOW I said I'd be back yesterday, but our derned internet was out. No bad weather. Pleasant sunny day and NO internet. MAN, ain't technology sweet? :)

Please email Amazon and voice your displeasure over the pedophile book (the pedophile's guide to love and pleasure) (capitals left out on purpose.) that is on their site. It was reported that they had pulled the book, but that isn't true. They have NOT pulled this book. (It made their bestsellers list.) Amazon says that “Amazon believes it is censorship not to sell certain books simply because we or others believe their message is objectionable. Amazon does not support or promote hatred or criminal acts, however, we do support the right of every individual to make their own purchasing decisions. HELLLLLOOOOO! By selling this book they are MOST CERTAINLY SUPPORTING CRIMINAL ACTS.

Question for you. Should a book like this be censored? Banned? I'm TOTALLY against censorship, however, this book (though it has no pictures) clearly explains how to harm a child in this very disgusting way. So I have to say "BURN THE BOOK."

Please click over and voice your displeasure with the powers that be. Amazon has to know where we stand on this issue. TOGETHER! WITH OUR CHILDREN!

  1. I saw this on the news last night. It makes me sick. Like you, I'm against censorship, but this book totally crosses a line.

  2. That is totally disgusting to think that Amazon wants to help sell that kind of book. That book should be burned. Is a guide to torture okay??? How ridiculous to act like a book that encourages cruelty and inhumanity deserves to a place in the marketplace. It's really upsetting.

  3. My first thought was that it had to be a hoax, but apparently it's not. I also wondered if it's a part of a sting operation to identify predators. In my mind, this is not even an issue of censorship. This is an issue of child safety and welfare.

  4. Karen, EXACTLY. Child safety and welfare. Not censorship.

  5. Kelly, didn't see your comment there. It is upsetting and I am at the point where I will NEVER give my business to Amazon again. I can't stand the thought.

  7. Totally unbelievable, what has this society become where this is acceptable. Is this a self published book, or should we be emailing the publisher as well. Going over right now.

  8. Thanks Paul! I really appreciate this. And so does the rest of the sane world.

  9. Patti, it is definitely self-published. ECK, DISGRACEFUL WORLD WE LIVE IN.

  10. I hate to sound dumb, but how would you go about e-mailing them to protest this? I didn't see any real way to contact them, except through HELP. I am a total advocate of free speech, but every society needs to draw the line somewhere, and this seems like a good place to me.

  13. That is 100% completely wrong. Morally, universally wrong. That book needs to be burned. I am disgusted with Amazon.

  14. I just went to look it up, because I couldn't believe it. I couldn't find the book. Maybe they took it down?

  15. I agree. Amazon is implicitly condoning those acts by having those books (the one in question was taken down, but there are others). And while I love freedom of speech, one of the benefits of being a private company is the ability to say "No."

We also have that ability. To say no to Amazon and find somewhere more discerning to shop. Now that the holiday shopping season is upon us, I'm staying away from them. It'll be hard, yes, but wrong is wrong. Once they take down books about illegal acts, then I'll consider using their site again.

  16. Katie - I heard they already removed it as well.

  17. No way Jose, this goes way beyond censorship. This is making money from a most disgusting, life altering action against children. This is a criminal act. It forever, forever, removes their innocence.

I will go straight to Amazon and speak my mind!

    Thank you for sharing this.

  19. The book would never be published in a traditional way. And Amazon is a bookstore. A bookstore has the right to offer or not offer a book. If I were Amazon, I wouldn't offer the book.

  20. I just read somewhere that Amazon won't be offering the book anymore.....
