Book Review For Homeschool Co-ops 101 CONGRADS KAREN LANGE! YaY Karen!

I've already read Karen's booket titled, THE ONLY HOMESCHOOL CO-OP BOOKLET YOU NEED TO START YOUR VERY OWN BEST CO-OP EVER! And I have pulled it out many times when I needed a word of advice from her. (Even though I can email her anytime.) But this handy dandy booklet has been a lifesaver. WOWOWOW. After reading Homeschool Co-ops 101 I am all set to start  a new co-op. This book teaches everything the booklet had and so much more! It was fun to read. I also love the way it's designed. Everything about it gives the reader all the support and comfort you need to either start a co-op or find one that's right for you. I will add that EVEN if you are not planning on joining or starting a co-op, you will still NEED this book. The ideas for classes that Karen has are terrific!

My favorites are chapter 10 Section 2: Games and Activity Ideas. The Recipe Scavenger Hunt, Picture Story and Substitute Reporter are priceless! What fun ideas. They are all so uplifting and fun to do eduction, not stuffiness.

Section 3: Chapter 12 In Unit Study Guidelines we learn that unit studies are a perfect mesh to co-ops. I'd never thought of unit studies in that way until now. The Unit Studies and Lessons were enlightening to me. Art, Culture, and Music along with Community Volunteer Work, gave me lots of my own ideas to combine with Karen's, that have made my upcoming school year filled to the brim with confidence. (Thanks amigo) :-)

The unit studies chapters are filled with fantastic classes. Just read Birds of Prey and you'll discover what I mean. In it we study owls, eagles and hawks with really interesting background information. Of course the background information is in every unit studies chapter. I'm telling you, I learned loads of things I'd never known before! Want to study Leonardo da Vinci? It's in there! Karen combines loads of science info too. That is what unit studies are all about!

Karen also includes websites, books and supplies, and discussion questions. The assignments will help homeschooling moms even if you don't do co-ops. She does the work for us! (I love that!) *wink* *wink*

She tells personal stories about her family's homeschooling journey which is such an encouraging and vital aspect of the book. (There are even tips for the writers in all of us.) Read  Weeds and Words and Editing Tips. Haha. My family is going to think I must be a genius. I'll have to mention it's really Karen. Haha. *maybe* :-)

Karen's book is a treasured addition to any library. Have kidlets in traditional school? You can still use this book to help them in their studies and broaden their horizons.

I gotta tell you, I'll turn to it for help and comfort for years to come! (Will I ever be done homeschooling?)

CONGRADS KAREN!!!! I LOVE YOU AND I'M SO THANKFUL FOR YOUR FRIENDSHIP, ADVICE, AND HUGS!!!!! (My amigo!)

  1. Oh, Robyn, I'm speechless! I'm thrilled that you liked the book and found it so helpful. You are a homeschool mom who knows her stuff, which makes the review even more meaningful to me.

Thanks so much for your kind support. It means the world to me. :-)

    Hugs to you, sweet amigo,
    Karen

  2. I should show this to my friend Meg. She's got kids she works with everyday. Although Meg's such an expert on stuff she probably knows all this already. Seriously...the woman knows everything. I can point to a plant and she'll tell me the scientific name. It's more fun trying to find out things Meg doesn't know.
