It's Time For Blood, Boobs & Carnage Blogfest! Yep, You Heard Me Right. *snort*

From Alex Cavanaugh's (the Ninja Captain's) blog. On May 18, 2015, post about a movie, television show, book, or all three that falls into the category of Blood, Boobs, and Carnage. (Or just Blood and Carnage or other mixture.) It can be any genre that fits the bill – fantasy, science fiction, action, adventure, western, thriller, etc.

So here we are. I have given this a lot of thought. Pondered it and considered it. I was able to whittle (a NC term), trim it down to two.

First up, Gotti. This qualifies for book, movie AND television show (notice how I got a three for one there?). Hey, I'm hearing the BOOS. Look. I am one out of about ten folks who loved this story. What's not to love? Crime boss, famous Gambino family, "Teflon Don", Armand Assante...you get me right? The made for TV movie version was brilliant. Assante was a natural. I know people say that there was nothing new about this. That it was just like any other mob movie. BAH, I say. BAH, HUMBUG! I was in my element watching this and reading about it too.

Which brings me to my number two pick. (Are you sensing a pattern about me here?)

Witness to the Mob. *wink* *wink* This film follows the rise of Sammy "The Bull" Gravano in ranks in the Gambino crime family.  I cannot help myself. I LOVE these movies, books, television shows about these mafia families. Sammy killed his best friends, his BOSS and his wife's brother (I know, what a guy, huh?). But there's more. He turned rat. He gave up THE man himself, Teflon Don. These movies rank on my A list. Don't diss them. Just smile and nod. Okay? ;-) And go visit the others who probably DON'T have mob movies, books and television shows as their picks.

You can find them over at The Captain's Place.

I don't know why half this post is so wonky looking.

I haven't been blogging as much because I have a new and improved blog I'm working on(and that's quite a bit of a time suck). With the help of one of my kids, that is. It's on WP. I hope to unveil it very soon.

Thanks for reading.

    1. Ooo, a fellow mob films . Gotti is great. You do need to watch it. The press pretty much hammered it as being the same old thing. But Assante made it way better than that.

Thanks. My blog and website will be one and the same. YaY.

    1. I feel the work will be worth it, amigo. My website and blog are tied together. WP is user-friendly. PLUS, after my blog was hacked I just lost my blogging oomph. I've gotten it back while working on this.

Hugs and loves and WP thoughts for you. *wink* xoxo

  4. Hey, I might not be a big fan of mob material, but this material certainly qualifies for this blogfest and who didn't love The Godfather?

  6. Sounds like a perfect match though I've never watched or read this. I'm not a fan of mob stories. There just doesn't seem like there are any bad guys.

  7. Haven't seen either of these mob movies, but then again I've never even seen any of The Godfather films either.

  10. Your blog title cracked me up! I don't read or watch anything mob related. My threshold for violence is pretty low. I spend most of Silence Of the Lambs with my eyes covered and hiding behind hubby. :D

  11. I'm with Teresa, I can't watch a lot of violence and so I've never seen a mob movie either! Sounds fun when you write about it though, Robyn!

  16. Blood, boobs, and carnage. What an attention grabber! How could i not read your post? Great picks. You and my husband would get along very well. He loves mafia movies. Me? I could do without the intensity. No wonder I love picture books.

  17. I don't watch mob movies or shows, but it is pretty cool you got a three-for-one here.

  18. I love mob flicks!!! But I haven't seen either of the ones you touted so those will be on my To See lists. I'm especially interested in the Sammy the Bull one because I'm a Mob Wives SuperFan and his daughter is one of the wives in the series and his name comes up often. Mob flicks rule! I'm with ya on that one for sure...

  21. I've only seen a few mob films, but I'm not too familiar with Gotti. I've heard of the name, though.

  22. would you believe I've never seen a single mob film?? Only one ep of the Sopranos! lol. Can't wait for the blog reveal! I think my bro is switching me to WP soon too.

  23. I haven't seen either one, but they do sound interesting! I don't generally watch mob movies or shows, though, so maybe that's why they haven't been on my radar. Good to know they're interesting!

  24. Gosh, I haven't seen either. I don't tend to watch that kinda show though.

  25. I try to stay away from mafia films. They always seem so violent--and I can't stand to watch people being tortured. That's kind of the cornerstone of mafia life!

  26. How did I miss this blogfest? Guess I was under some sort of rock.

Mafia shows are always surreal to me. Probably because I may or may not have had people in the mafia in my extended family. I'll never tell....

  29. Hey Robyn, how are you doing? I hope all is well with you and everything is going okay. It's been a while so, I thought I'd better give an account of myself. Caregiving for two (Mama & Grandson) takes a lot of work and energy. Blah, blah, blah and so on.

I don't think I have read/seen either of these, so I can't add anything meaningful. Thanks for sharing this. I just wanted to say hi and to wish you a nice weekend.

  31. Hi Robyn .. thinking of you 'wonderful mother and carer' that you are .. and a winner - you won Sharon's give-away - George Green's book "Out of the Spotlight" - lucky you ...

It's so hot over here now - I know last week I was grumping about the cold! Still it's bliss for now - and I don't have to go too far ... just glad I'm not out and about - it is getting warm and warmer ... in the 30s and for us that's warm.

I think of you and wish you well as you 'mastermind' and take care of the family and you ... with big hugs and happy thoughts from here across the pond ... Hilary
