C is for...

Christopher, my son. I loves him, so I had to put him on C. He's a most wonderful blessing in all of our lives. :-) And he ALWAYS makes me smile.

C  is also for characters. No, I don't mean weird Aunt Pearl, or strange Uncle Herman. Though, you could put them in your books. *wink* They would add dimension, now wouldn't they?

I'm talking the characters we invent. For the worlds we create in our stories. Now I have been known to take parts of Aunt Pearl, (Yep, I really had one.)  and add her feature to a character I was developing. *smiles to self* My Aunt Pearl was an old maid, as they called it, years ago. She never married and lived with about twenty cats inside her home in Ohio. She was engaged, but he was killed in the war. So I have lotsa fodder with her.

I ask you, what would you do with my aunt in your stories? Uh-huh, you can borrow her or my uncle Herman. He was a man that couldn't leave the ladies alone. Yup, my family tree stands tall and proud. *ahem* :-)

  1. I think I'll have aunt Pearl thanks! She sounds cool! And as for C for Christopher, well, he's waaay beyond cool! :)

Love your new blog image (have I told you that before - head spinning with all the preparations for my book release - looks like May. Squeeee! Cover up on blog today!)

Sending big hugs to you and Christopher. I would've liked to join the A-z Blog challenge but things a bit crazy here at the moment!

We all have a few goodies in the family tree to pluck out for stories.... :O)

  5. I have an aunt "Pearl" in my family tree, name Mille. She remained a spinster because the man she fell in love with was divorced and so not acceptable in the 1930's/40's. So she never married.

More hugs for you and Christopher.

  7. Well now, Yah know how I feels about "the Christopher"! A-hah!

Oh my the family tree, full of leaves, and berries, and nuts and fruits. What can I say, some good, some not so good. But you are absolutely right, full of characters!

    Wishing you a good day!

  8. Christopher was a must; I can't make up my mind whether to ask for Auntie Pearl or Uncle Herman.

  9. Christopher sounds awesome, I also have a son with a C name that I love tremendously.

I often think that my mother in laws life would make a good story, but that probably wouldn't be good for family relations.

  10. I think I am an Aunt Pearl, (actually my nieces and nephew call me Aunt Num Num...) Oh, and I only have two cats, but I can see myself becoming Aunt Pearl. Maybe I should write a memoir.

  11. I certainly have some characters in my family too. I'd definitely use your Aunt Pearl for a story about lost love. That is so interesting that she never looked to marry again (or maybe she did?) after her fiance died. :-(

  14. My heart aches for the women who had a true love and lost him, particularly in wars. So many stories that were never written.

  15. Call me evil, but I would write Pearl and Herman into the same room and watch the sparks fly. :-)

On a reality note, I agree with Mary, it's really sad how people lost their loved ones to the war.

  18. Christopher is the perfect thing for a "C" day! My grandmother's middle name was Pearl, so while I didn't have an Aunt Pearl, someone in the family did!

    Hugs, cool amigo friend!

    Blessings,
    Karen

  19. Hooray for Christopher!

I think Aunt Pearl would be an interesting character with a double persona. Wouldn't she be a cool superhero or super villain? Remember Cat Woman - librarian type by day and daredevil by night?

  20. Robyn,

This is too hilarious! Grant, above, is my husband. I accidentally commented under his google account. Funny to think of him with my sense of humor :) LOL - Kel

  22. Hey, characters are just people with lots of personality. They're usually the life of the party, too. Glad you're proud!

  24. I kind of already have an Aunt Pearlish character in one of my stories, though if truth be told my character hadn't even gotten so far as engaged.
