Wanna get paid for writing while working on your novel?

Here are two great ways to earn a publishing credential and put a little money in your pocket. I think I will look into this too. While querying, and working on my next project, I would love to have something published in a magazine. First off is Mad Magazine. They want to see your silliness. I think I will check this one out. You know how much I love silly. :-)

And Hunger Mountain is taking submissions too. They accept poetry and with all the poetry that writers were posting yesterday,(check out Shannon M. she started it.:-)) I thought you might be interested in this. Oh, and Shannon, I didn't know about it until late last night or I would have graced you with some of my poetry. Alas, it's probably better left for my eyes only. :-)

A lot of doctor visits coming up. Please remember my sweet Christopher in your prayers. Thank you. :-)

  1. Prayers I can offer. Sending my poetry in for submission? Not sure I should be doing that! Now that silliness is endearing. I'll have to check them both out. Thanks for posting!

Some silliness in MAD Magazine sounds like fun. Hav a great time with that.

  7. Some of the best paying markets are nonfiction features, and it's often easiest to break in to association and trade publications (I've worked with freelancers on both). In some cases, editors want to see a clips file (samples of your published work), so you might need a few nonpaying gigs under your belt first. The nice thing about assignment work is that it's industry practice to put a "kill fee" stipulation in your contract--that is, you get paid something for your effort, even if they choose not to publish.
