I had a fantastic break and got lots done, but I seemed to have lost my mojo along the way. *sigh* It just up and left me. I think it packed all its bags too. So does that mean it isn't coming back? I have decided to bribe it with chocolate. And I signed up for Julie Hedlund's 12 x 12 in 2012. That is, 12 picture books in the 12 months that we call a year. I am very excited about this. (Thank you Julie!) This might swing mojo back my way. I also signed up for 750words.com which is a wonderful site that mojo might like too. It's tough. Of the 1142 people who signed up, only 648 people still in. It is a great motivating tool for mojo. Now granted there are folks who already have 72 points, but my 31 points as of yesterday, puts a smile on my face. Want to see it?
Here I am. Oh Mojo, please come back!
I have also signed up for Perfect Picture Book Fridays. This is the brainchild of Susanna Leonard Hill. I think with all the prodding I'm doing my mojo should be back really, really, really soon. *buoyant* Plus, I have a boy middle grade novel that I am trying to work on. *would be floating if Mojo would hurry home*
Have you ever lost it?? Your mojo, I mean. Any words of advice?
I hate it when my mojo goes away. Happened to me in December. I'm hoping it comes back some time this week. Good luck with all your new projects. It sounds like you'll be busy!
ReplyDeleteChocolate always works for me, but my mojo never seems to respond to that particular bribe. Maybe it's a salty/crunchy kind of snacker? Good luck with your projects and I hope your mojo finds it's way home soon!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back Robyn. I lose my mojo just about every other day. 5 years ago I used to work at a company that allowed people to bring their pets to work. My coworker had a dog named Mojo and brought him in every day. I felt good about having Mojo with me every day. You should write a picture book about a dog named Mojo. ;)
ReplyDeleteWelcome back my friend.
ReplyDeleteI've never had a mojo to lose, that's why I admire you and your work ethic so much.
When your mojo does return I definitely think you should take Melissa up on her idea, a dog called Mojo sounds good to me!
Those sites you found sound very helpful to keep your mojo going! Sometimes setting up an award for myself for when I complete a goal helps me get back into my mojo again.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you found yours again! And yes, I've spent the past six months flailing around for my next storyline. It finally hit after reading a review of my next book and the person commented they wanted to hear more about a certain aspect. Bingo!
ReplyDeleteMost of last year was a mojo bye-bye for me. But over the holidays I set some goals for myself and I'm heading into week three of getting back up on the horse. Even sent a couple of short pieces out to some magazines, just to get the feel of things, to put my toes back in the water.
ReplyDeleteI have no doubt your mojo will come back with twice as much energy as it had before.
Have lost my mojo in part and whole at different times, so I'm with you girl! The best thing I've found is to keep pushing ahead, take breaks (like you just did) and use chocolate. Sounds like you are pretty on track to me. Hugs, amigo!
ReplyDeleteI hear you loud and clear! My mojo has gone away, too. Trying to get it back as well.
ReplyDeleteHope it comes back to you soon!
YES!! This year I HAVE lost my mojo. When you find yours, can you help me find mine? :-)
ReplyDeleteMy mojo seems to have gone to Jamaica or something. I like your idea of bribing it with chocolate. Good luck with everything Robyn. You're a superstar. You'll make it happen. Love ya, Kel
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! The mojo will return as soon as you get back in the groove of blogging.
ReplyDeleteI have no words of wisdom on mojo. I've lost it before, but then found it hidden in the sock drawer. Maybe look there. :) Hope you had a wonderful holiday with the family. Excited about all the ways to keep us on track in 2012!
ReplyDeleteMy mojo has been gone for a whole year and I'm just hoping against hope that I can coax it back out in 2012! Please share any other mojo enticing tips you come up with!
ReplyDeleteGlad to have you and your mojo in the 12 x 12!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! :)
ReplyDeleteI just read a post by Peggy Eddleman about writing mojo--she has some great advice.
Wow! you're busy!!! Will check out your links. :O)
ReplyDeleteI hope your mojo comes back. I give my mojo time to return to me. Or I have to find a way to woo it back.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back and happy New Year!
Welcome back! I am furious at your mojo. This has been going on way too long! Work it, mojo!
ReplyDeleteI love your smiling face! Good luck with all your new ventures - I think that sounds like a wonderful way to bring your mojo back!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you will be busy! Nice to "see" you Robyn!
ReplyDeleteHi Robyn...great to see you back. Missed you lots. I am glad that you are getting the mojo back. Bribing and chocolate..thats the way to go.
ReplyDeleteI think I lost my mojo for the better part of last year as I really didn't get anything accomplished. I'm hoping this year will be better. Sounds like signing up to do things is a great way to get it back.
ReplyDeleteWow that is really nice looking
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling your mojo might just be taking a nap...I'm sure she will get up when you wave that chocolate infront of her nose.
ReplyDeleteAre you entering the Highlight's contest?
Yep, yep, yep, lost my mojo plenty of times, but it always comes back. And you've got lots of great things going on to spark it into gear. 12 picture books in a year is a great goal and the middle grade book. 2012 is going to be a rockin' year for you! And sometimes taking a break is just what we need to get our mojo all revved up!
ReplyDeletewelcome back ;] following !

ReplyDeleteYes I've lost my mojo and all that I could do was wait for it to return.
