Books For Reluctant Readers

Christmas isn't THAT far away so I thought I would mention reluctant readers need books too. I know a writer who writes specifically for reluctant readers. They love his books. Almost as much as they love mine. Oh wait, I'm not published yet. *she stamps her foot*

His name is Max Elliot Anderson. Mountain Cabin Mystery is really good. As is, North Woods Poacher, Secrets of Abbotts Cave and Legend Of The White Wolf. If there are any reluctant readers on your list this year, girls or boys buy them these books. They will gobble them up and ask for more. And isn't that what it's all about?

Do you know of any books that reluctant readers would enjoy? If so comment here. Thanks!

  1. Good Morning, Robyn!
Well, reluctant readers-I believe I told you about the Captain Underpants books that finally encouraged my oldest princess to read. Another one for her was the Garfield comics. Again-not of literary genius-but I think it is less overwhelming than paragraphs of words and gets the young ones excited to read.

My youngest princess absolutely loves the "Don't let the penguin stay up late" and the other titles by Mo Willems. Laura Numeroff is also a favorite in our house.

  2. Good morning to you Kristi, and thanks for reminding me about Captain Underpants. And I agree about Garfield. A great idea. Mo Willems books! I had forgotten about those. Thanks so much! :)

  4. Linda, no problem. Christopher has not really been a reluctant reader but he has dyslexia. He reads really good though. But there was a time... :)

  5. Thanks for this bit of info, Robyn. What age group are these books for? I have two kiddos to get gifts for at Christmas and I would love something that comes highly recommended. Thanks!

  9. Thank you for this post! I will check out those titles. My son used to be reluctant, but then he discovered the Goosebump series. He is still very picky...but at least he is reading!

  10. Wow, thanks a lot for the recommendations! I know far too many reluctant readers. The big lesson I've learned is that I need to give people the books I think THEY'LL like, rather than the ones that I like. One book I have been talking about a lot is a book called The Gargoyle that I think people who like Twilight might enjoy. But, this is an adult book, so it's not exactly Twilight.

  11. My husband is the most reluctant reader I know! He will however read Christian material, and I will settle for that.

Great post! I will check these out.

    Blessings to you...

  13. Davin, have I seen you mention that over at The Lit Lab? If not I have heard of that book somewhere. And I agree about giving the books you KNOW that will get them into reading. Great thoughts from you as usual! :)

  16. To prevent the creation of piles, stay away from being constipated. Constipation can lead to stressing during bowel movements, which is one of the primary factors behind piles. Eating a good amount of fiber content, ingesting plenty of water and going for a feces softener as required can all prevent constipation, as can everyday workout.
