Amazon

As most of you know, Amazon pulled the hideous book from their site. After receiving the many emails and phone calls , I guess they figured out what they had to do. My question is this. The book was self-published on kindle. Doesn't that make Amazon the publisher? Why would they do that? We know it wasn't a disgruntled ex-employee with a grudge, because they pulled it once yesterday (where it was 99 on the bestseller list) and then put it back up (and it was 80 on the bestseller list).

I need answers. And this isn't the only book like this that Amazon sells. WHERE DO THEY DRAW THE LINE? Have they NO shame?

The Christmas season is closer than they think. I'll be buying my books at B&N and my local bookstore. In the past, I've regularly bought books at Amazon. NO MORE. I can't support a company like this. Maybe sometime in the future, if I am reassured that their morals have improved, maybe then. But Amazon, I wouldn't hold my breath.

I'll post regularly again on Monday. Today is my wedding anniversary (notice how I said MY? Like the hubby had nothing to do with it.)

It is also the one year anniversary of the death of my beloved cat Blue. A whole lotta tears will be shed.

Have a lovely, safe weekend.

  4. Happy Anniversary! The news about that book made me sick. I'm glad they finally pulled it, but they never should have allowed it on there in the first place.

  5. Oh, and it also makes me sick that whoever wrote it actually profited from it.

  6. Oh my, this controversy is so crazy. I know that everyone is really excited about self-publishing and e-books, but stuff like this makes me wonder if Amazon is a responsible gatekeeper for books that cross the line. Amazon has a lot of power and it makes me nutty. The fact that when you google a book and the first thing that comes up is the Amazon link is just plain wrong.

  8. I e-mailed Amazon and was notified the book has been removed.

Amazon surely must realize this has drawn attention to the books they publish, by whatever means.

They have lost my business too. Not that I buy much these days.

Baby Blue was a sweetie. Love the pic!

    Again, Happy Anniversary!

  10. I'm definitely not shopping on Amazon this Christmas. True, they pulled the first book, but I think the others are still up (yes, there was more than one). Sickening.

Happy anniversary and my condolences for the loss of your Blue.

  11. I was horrified when I saw how many of that guy's books sold after all the publicity. Makes me ill to think he made a ton of money.

Putting that aside, I wish you a very Happy Anniversary. I hope you do something fun.

  12. I'm not surprised that Amazon pulled the book, but I hope like you they learn something from this. I doubt it, because they are all powerful and will do anything for money. This makes me sick.

  13. Happy Anniversary Robyn! I also emailed Amazon to voice my disgust about this book being sold. They told me that they pulled it. I'm going to shop at B&N from now on too.

Sorry for your loss of beautiful Blue. Hugs...

  16. I also had to go back and read your last post to see what book you were talking about. I'm so disgusted. Thanks for bringing this issue to light.

Happy anniversary, and I'm so sorry about your cat. My beloved cat, Baxter, died Thanksgiving day three years ago. He also is very much missed.

  18. Happy anniversary!

I miss my own blue cat (a Russian Blue) who I had for over a decade.

That book disgusted me and I'm glad it was yanked off the website.

  19. Happy anniversary!
As I posted on FB, it's a good time to let your morals do the shopping!! I DO advocate keeping our freedoms, just $$ speaking for us in the free marketplace!!
    Blessings,

  20. I'm all for free speech and Everything and I HATE censorship but that book (rather the idea behind it as I have not read it) is revolting. Glad they pulled it! Thank you so much for visiting my site and leaving your very sweet comment. Hope you're having a wonderful day!
